PDR Pros Owner Jason Schilling: Built by Hail, Driven by Service, Rooted in Del Rio
If your vehicle has ever been caught in a Del Rio hailstorm, there’s a good chance you already know the name Jason Schilling, owner of PDR Pros. Michigan-born and Del Rio-raised, Schilling has built PDR Pros into one of the area’s most trusted names in paintless dent repair, body work, and hail damage service. But for Jason, the business has never been just about fixing dents. It’s about taking care of people. “My real enjoyment is taking care of the customers,” Schilling said. “People pay their monthly premiums for insurance, hoping they never have to use it. Then when something happens, it becomes a major inconvenience. What I try to do is make the process as smooth as possible.” That customer-first mindset is what has helped PDR Pros stand out. The company is known for helping clients through the insurance process and, most importantly, paying customer deductibles, helping eliminate out-of-pocket expenses for many vehicle owners. “It’s a win-win-win situation for my clients,” Schilling said. “I always make myself available. If there’s ever a warranty issue or any kind of problem, I take care of it.” Schilling’s journey into paintless dent repair started after a major hailstorm in Del Rio back in the early 2000s. He remembers seeing technicians working on hail-damaged vehicles and being impressed by the process. “There was a major hailstorm in Del Rio, and that’s when I was introduced to paintless dent repair,” Schilling said. “I saw what those guys were doing, and I knew I wanted to learn that trade.” From there, Schilling committed himself to mastering the craft. That decision would take him far beyond Del Rio. “I started traveling all over the country, chasing hailstorms and fixing cars,” Schilling said. “I’ve been overseas fixing cars. I’ve fixed thousands of vehicles, including brand-new cars for dealerships. I’ve been doing this for quite some time now.” His work has taken him across the United States and even to Australia multiple times. For Schilling, the traveling brought new opportunities, new people, and new experiences. “The traveling was nice,” he said. “Meeting different people, seeing different places, working on different cars, and getting different perspectives that’s been really enjoyable.” But before PDR Pros became the name people know today, Schilling had already built a strong history in Del Rio business. His first job was with UPS before he opened a car audio and alarm store. From there, he moved into the booming cell phone business. “I ventured into selling cellular phones at the peak of the cell phone boom and did really well,” Schilling said. “Then I ended up buying the piece of property where I’m at now, and eventually the cell phone business started to fade out.” Schilling later entered the digital sign business, helping build several of the digital billboards that are still visible around Del Rio today, including locations near the overpass, Veterans Boulevard, and Thompson Tire. He later sold those billboards to Cine Ad out of Houston. Still, it was hail damage repair that became his strongest calling. For years, Schilling traveled wherever the storms took him. But in recent years, Del Rio has kept him busy close to home, especially after the major 2020 hailstorm that impacted much of Val Verde County. “That big storm in 2020 basically hit the entire county,” Schilling said. “If your vehicle was outside, it had hail damage.” The demand was overwhelming. Local body shops were backed up, and the amount of work coming through PDR Pros continued to grow. “There was so much work,” Schilling said. “The body shops I normally worked with were so stacked up that they couldn’t handle any of my work. So I bought property going toward the base by the Texaco, remodeled it, bought more land, and turned it into a full-blown body shop.” That move helped PDR Pros expand its services and better serve Del Rio drivers. And while Schilling has built a career chasing storms across the country, lately he hasn’t had to leave home. “I haven’t had to travel much over the past four years because it just keeps hailing in Del Rio,” he said. Through it all, Schilling remains grateful for the community that helped shape him. “Del Rio has been really, really good to me,” Schilling said. “I’ve been blessed. Most of the people in Del Rio are great people. The teachers in my life, the authority figures in town — they all had an impact and a positive influence on my life.” Today, PDR Pros continues to grow with the same foundation that started it all: hard work, experience, trust, and a commitment to making the repair process easier for every customer. For Jason Schilling, it’s simple: when storms hit, PDR Pros is ready. And when customers need help, he’s there to make it right.
